Gunnebo Safe Storage’s Contribution to Gunnebo's 2025 Sustainability Report

Gunnebo Safe Storage’s Contribution to Gunnebo's 2025 Sustainability Report

This year marks an important milestone as Gunnebo publishes its annual report aligned with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). As the largest business unit, accounting for 64% of net sales and achieving 12.4% year-on-year growth, Gunnebo Safe Storage plays a key role in driving the sustainability performance and progress reflected in the report.

Here are some of the highlights from a Safe Storage perspective.

Our People

Safe Storage has made significant progress in building inclusive leadership. In 2025, 44% of management positions were held by women, compared to 22% in 2024. This exceeds the Group average of 31% and represents one of the most important achievements this year.

Employee engagement remains strong, with Safe Storage and headquarters achieving an 83% participation rate in the 2025 pulse survey. This indicates a high level of commitment to continuous improvement.

Health and safety efforts have also been strengthened. For example, the implementation of a new paint exhaust system at the Markersdorf site has improved air quality and working conditions.

Our Impact

Gunnebo Group's Science Based Targets (SBTs) define a clear direction:

  • A 42% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030 (from a 2022 baseline)
  • A 51.6% reduction in Scope 3 emissions intensity per thousand EUR value added

Within Safe Storage, these targets have been translated into concrete actions across operations.

Despite continued business growth, progress has been achieved:

  • A 1% absolute reduction in Scope 1 emissions compared to the 2022 baseline
  • A 6% absolute reduction in Scope 2 (market-based) emissions compared to the 2022 baseline

These reductions are largely driven by an increased share of renewable energy. During 2025:

  • Renewable energy increased from 13% to 17%
  • Renewable electricity reached 24%

Gunnebo Safe Storage also joined the global SteelZero initiative, supporting the transition to net-zero steel, directly addressing one of our most significant material impacts in the value chain.

Improved measurement systems and more granular data collection across operations have strengthened our environmental tracking. This has enabled better visibility of impact, identified new improvement opportunities, and in some cases revealed lower actual emissions than previously estimated.

Our Business

Gunnebo maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards bribery and corruption. In 2025, no incidents of non-compliance with the Anti-Bribery and Corruption Policy were identified.

While 14 cases were reported through the Gunnebo Ethics HelpLine during the year, none were related to corruption or bribery. Gunnebo Safe Storage employees have full access to this anonymous channel to raise concerns without fear of retaliation.

Compliance remains high, with 99.4% of white-collar employees completing mandatory Code of Conduct training during the reporting year.

Accountability is reinforced through the management bonus scheme for senior positions, where 10% of the total incentive potential is tied to individual sustainability goals, such as meeting Science Based Targets initiative roadmap contributions or improving supplier development.

Gunnebo Safe Storage holds quarterly sustainability forums to address specific sustainability initiatives. These forums ensure internal communication and keeps sustainability visible across all entities.

Product Innovation for Sustainability

We've proven that security performance and environmental performance go hand in hand. GSS developed new constructions for our highest safe ranges (EN Grade VI and VI T2) and will be produced in our manufacturing sites at Jakarta and in Markersdorf, achieving a carbon footprint reduction of respectively 45% and 25%.

Our shift toward connected and digitally supported security solutions is about creating value that lasts. We've centered our innovation efforts on the Gunnebo iQ™ platform, which serves as the foundation for connected products and software-enabled solutions. This platform enables predictive maintenance, optimises product lifecycles, and reduces unnecessary site visits delivering both customer value and environmental benefits.

Looking Ahead

During the next year we will continue scaling initiatives that deliver environmental and social impact by driving performance against our internal sustainability targets across all entities.

There by advancing our contribution to the Group's climate targets through continued energy transition and supply chain engagement.
